Making coconut oil a part of your beauty regimen can support healthy looking skin and hair. There are so many great uses for this functional fat that go beyond your kitchen cabinet.
Try out some of these unconventional uses for coconut oil to start getting all of the beauty benefits!
1- Makeup Remover—A little goes a long way, so take about a teaspoon of coconut oil, wet a washcloth with warm water and gently massage away your makeup.
2-Lip Balm—Soft and supple lips have never been easier! Scoop it right out of the jar and apply to your lips! You can melt down some bee’s wax and mix it in to make your own homemade lip balm.
3-Oil Pulling—this is a process of swishing coconut oil in your mouth that can help whiten your teeth and remove plaque buildup. Take about a tablespoon of coconut oil and allow it to soften in your mouth, be sure NOT to swallow the coconut oil, but give yourself about 15-20 minutes to swish around the oil in your mouth.
4-Shaving Cream—ran out of shaving cream again? No problem, apply a small amount of coconut oil on your legs before shaving for soft, knick free legs.
5-Hair Conditioner—naturally moisturizing, coconut oil can be used as a natural hair mask to help add shine and hydrate your dry, brittle hair. Use it quickly for fly always, or apply a quarter size dollop to your hair and leave it in over night for “dead” ends and dry scalp.
Homemade Toothpaste—combine equal parts coconut oil and baking soda…sweeten with stevia and your favorite essential oil (like peppermint oil) for flavor.
